Every Wednesday and Sunday morning a group of mainly men gather beside an artificial lake (once a quarry) in suburban Melbourne. On this lake they float their model sailing yachts, steam ships, paddle steamers, jet boats and even a submarine.
But I think mostly they are there to have a chatter with their mates, do a bit of tinkering, and gaze in companionable silence across the lake.
